Translation: He was killed with a sword.

At first, this seems like a wrong conjugation since you would think ‘mataron’ implies multiple people killed him but that doesn’t make much sense with a single sword… but I’ve found several examples of this phrase. Maybe ‘lo mataron’ is just an impersonal idiomatic phrase for ‘he was killed’.
