It\u2019s also one of the most frequently used verbs in the French language, so if you want to talk about leaving in French, then you need to learn the <em>partir <\/em>conjugation sooner rather than later.<\/p>\n<h2><a id=\"post-6629-_8d0hvxsbdrs6\"><\/a>What does the <em>partir<\/em> conjugation mean?<\/h2>\n<p>1. T<em>o leave<\/em>, meaning to start to exit a place<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Je dois partir de chez moi \u00e0 6 heures pour arriver \u00e0 l&#8217;heure &#8211; <em>I need to leave my house at 6 to be there on time<\/em><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>2. To go away, on a trip or on vacation<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Elle part au ski avec sa famille &#8211; <em>She is going skiing with her family<\/em><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>3. To set off quickly from a standstill, for example, to mark the start of a race<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>\u00c0 vos marques ! Pr\u00eats ? Partez ! &#8211; <em>On your marks, get set, go! (Or: ready, steady, go!)<\/em><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>4. The stem for the first, second and third-person singular forms is \u201cpar-\u201d to which we add the endings <em>s<\/em>, <em>s<\/em> and <em>t<\/em>. For the plurals, we use the stem \u201cpart-\u201d and add the usual present tense endings -ons, -ez and the silent ending -ent.
