You can use this verb to talk about serving food, pouring drinks, helping people, and also to explain the purpose of something. The <em>servir <\/em>conjugation in French can help you in a lot of different situations.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"h-meaning-of-the-servir-conjugation-in-french\">Meaning of the <em>Servir<\/em> Conjugation in French<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>1.<\/strong> The old meaning of \u201cservir\u201d was to serve in the sense of a servant, carrying out domestic chores. They can differ hugely, however, they may follow a pattern or share a likeness with other verbs with the same ending. The majority of verbs use the auxiliary \u201cavoir\u201d followed by the past participle. The last participle of servir is \u201cservi\u201d, and we do not need subject-verb agreement when the auxiliary is <em>avoir<\/em>. Reflexive verbs, in French \u201cles verbes pronominaux\u201d, have the same subject and direct object, for example \u201cI wash myself\u201d. The verb \u201cservir\u201d is so frequently used as a reflexive verb, that it is important for French language learners to know both the non-reflexive and the reflexive forms.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"h-se-servir-in-pass-compos\"><strong><em>Se servir<\/em> in pass\u00e9 compos\u00e9<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>The reflexive verb \u201cse servir\u201d means <em>to serve <\/em>or<em> help oneself<\/em>. This is a very common use of the verb \u201cservir\u201d. Note that in this form, past tense verbs with the auxiliary \u201c\u00eatre\u201d must agree with the subject. The first is called the simple future. This is used with things that might happen in the future, things we want to happen, or things that are hypothetical. What\u2019s important is that there is <strong>uncertainty<\/strong>. If you are sure of what is going to happen, then you can use the <em>futur proche<\/em> instead. This is used for things that are quite sure, rather than less concrete wishes and intentions. It is also used for things that will happen imminently rather than in the more distant future. This helps to give context or emphasize the order of events.
