Dzie\u0144 dobry<\/strong><\/em> is the daytime greeting, which this is how you say both \u201cgood morning\u201d and \u201cgood afternoon\u201d in Polish. Nowadays, however, no one will bat an eye if you use it in the evening\u2014making it the \u201call-purpose\u201d formal greeting.<\/span><\/p>\n

The literal translation is \u201cgood day\u201d, but instead of standing in front of the noun, the adjective \u201cdobry\u201d follows it.
